Abstract

Anatomical terminology is the foundation of medical terminology in general, so it is extremely important that physicians and scientists around the world use uniform terms for each anatomical entity. The unification of anatomical terminology is facilitated by the traditional use of the Latin language.
This article focuses on the comparative structural and semantic analysis of the anatomical terms of two International Scientific Nomenclatures: Parisiana Nomina Anatomica (PNA) and Terminologia Anatomica (TA) - their first section: General terms - Termini generales (PNA), and the corresponding to it section in TA: Anatomia generalis: General anatomy.
The study revealed some significant advantages of TA over PNA. The development of evolutionary processes in science led to the emergence of new terms and modification of the old ones, as a result of which a large number of new clarifying and detailing terms appeared in the latest edition of the International Anatomical Terminology (TA).
